WASHINGTON, DC- The Juniata men's soccer team earned a draw to finish the regular season portion of Landmark play unbeaten with a 1-1 draw at the University of Catholic on Saturday afternoon.
Shawn Tanaka scored off an assist from Gio Amesti, while Maxwell Mattioni made six saves.
In the 36th minute, Tanaka played a ball down the right wing to Amesti, who squared it back to Tanaka at the top of the box. The first-year forward took two touches to create space for rifling the ball off the top-right corner of the crossbar and into the net.
Catholic held a 7-1 advantage in shots and a 6-0 one in corner kicks.
In the 83rd minute, a Catholic forward got to a loose ball first, following a Mattioni save, and placed it in the right corner.
Neither team could find a winner.
Juniata finishes the regular season 10-2-6 on a nine-game unbeaten run and with the best record in Landmark Conference play.
The team will face the winner of the Tuesday evening match between #4 University of Scranton and #5 Lycoming College on Thursday evening at 7:00 at Gibbel Stadium.
