HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team picked up a 2-1 win over visiting McDaniel College Sunday afternoon in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Semifinals.
Jase Colino and Shawn Tanaka scored a goal each, while Gavin Rauhut had two assists, and Nathan Weick had one. Maxwell Mattioni made four saves in goal.
Six minutes into the contest, Rauhut played a ball into the box. Weick flicked it on, and Colino smashed it into the net to make it 1-0.
Juniata led 1-0 at the half and held an 8-4 advantage in shots and a 3-1 lead in corners.
In the 68th minute, Rauhut intercepted an errant Green Terror pass and played it forward to Tanaka near the visitor 18. He took a touch before clobbering the ball into the top left of the net.
One minute later, McDaniel beat the Eagles' defense with a low shot from inside the box.
The Eagles had some chances in the final 20 minutes but maintained their one-goal advantage.
The win is the program's first-ever ECAC win, and it means they will advance to the championship game, in which they will host Rutgers Newark next Saturday. Game time TBA
