HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team won 1-0 over visiting Wilkes University on Senior Day and Homecoming, Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.
Jase Colino scored the lone goal while Nathan Weick provided the assist. Maxwell Mattioni made one save in goal to get the shutout.
Juniata was on the front foot in the first half, and outshot the visitors 4-1, with the Colonels' keeper making three saves.
In the 53rd minute, Jayden Gaynor intercepted a pass from the keeper, played it across to Weick, who touched it over to Colino. Colino took a touch before smashing the ball into the back of the net.
The Eagles ramped up the attack in the second half as they took 12 shots, but Wilkes had a few chances as they took four of their own. Neither team scored the rest of the match as JC took the three points and the victory.
The shutout is the eighth of the season, a program record, breaking last year's record of seven.
Juniata will travel to take on Elizabethtown on Tuesday at 7:00.
