Wilkes-Barre, Pa.- The Juniata women's basketball team won on the road against the Wilkes University Colonels, 68-56, on Saturday afternoon.
Haily Sherman totaled 22 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double combined with three steals. Bri Bodtorf had 13 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and four steals for another double-double. Steph Emert tallied 13 points, four steals, and seven rebounds.
Olivia Berg started the scoring for Juniata, grabbing an offensive rebound and draining a three-point shot off a Bodtorf assist to put the Eagles ahead. A few possessions later, three consecutive offensive rebounds from Emert and Laney Gerdich led to an easy bucket in the paint for Gerdich. The Eagles took a five-point lead into the locker room on the back of five team steals in the second quarter. Juniata led 27-22 at the break. The Colonels hung around, and midway through the final quarter, they sliced the Eagle's advantage to three. Juniata closed the game on a 19-10 run to comfortably snag their fourth conference win of the season.
The Eagles return to action on the road against Lycoming at 7:00 pm.
