McGlaughlin Scores Six Against Marywood
HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team lost to visiting Marywood University, 17-12, on a windy Friday evening at Gibbel Stadium.
Ella McGlaughlin had a career-high six goals, while Elayna Stubbe had two goals, four ground balls, three draw controls, and a caused turnover. Devyn Mauger contributed two goals, five draw controls, and a ground ball. Skyler Stevens tallied a goal and an assist to go with a ground ball and a caused turnover. Madi Van Zant had a goal and two ground balls. Francesca Ditsky got the start while Caoilinn Heatley entered and made eight saves in relief. Kyra Shipley added seven draw controls, five ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
The Pacers got off to a fast start, scoring three goals in the first three and a half minutes. Stubbe and McGlaughlin each scored off a free position opportunity to get within one. Marywood scored the final four goals of the quarter as Juniata trailed 7-2 at the end of the first.
The Eagles dominated the second quarter as Juniata outscored Marywood 7-2, with Van Zant scoring the goal that put Juniata ahead for the first time, 9-8. The Pacers scored the final goal of the half to tie things heading into the half.
Marywood controlled the second half, outscoring Juniata 8-3.
Juniata picked up 16 draw controls to the Pacers 13.
The Eagles return to action against Bridgewater on Wednesday at 5:00.
