Mauger, McGlaughlin, and Stevens Tally Two Apiece Against the Blue Jays
Huntingdon, Pa.- Juniata lost the battle of the birds on Wednesday evening, as Elizabethtown won by a score of 17-8.
A chilly evening led to a crisp start for the Eagles as Skyler Stevens poured in the first goal of the game for the Eagles with 14:09 remaining in the first. Stevens struck again to even the game at two with under five minutes remaining in the first.
With the Blue Jays taking a 5-2 lead, Mara Gallo fired a rocket into the net, followed by a Devyn Mauger goal only a minute later to push the game to within one. Mauger went on to finish the game with two goals, four shots on net, a groundball, and six draw controls. Ella McGlaughlin ripped shots on target all night, picking up two goals and finishing with all five of her five shots on net. Elayna Stubbe added a goal to bring the goal tally to eight on the night for the Eagles.
Defensively, Kyra Shipley had a nose for the ball, recording four groundballs, with Mikayla Bodley recording three. Shipley, Bodley, Mauger, and Stubbe each recorded two caused turnovers apiece.
In net, Caoilinn Heatley recorded nine saves on 21 shots on net, and Francesca Ditsky picked up eight saves on 13 recorded shots on net.
The Eagles will leave the nest this Saturday to fly to Bethlehem for a conference matchup versus Moravian with a 1:00 PM draw.
