McGlaughlin, Stevens Power Eagles Past Warriors
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team won big on the road at Lycoming College, 23-8, on Wednesday evening at UPMC Field.
Ella McGlaughlin put up nine points (7g, 2a), tying for the third most points in a single game. Skyler Stevens totaled seven goals and an assist, while Emily Kemmer tallied four goals, two assists, two ground balls, a draw control, and a caused turnover. Elayna Stubbe added a goal, three assists, two ground balls, and four draw controls. Devyn Mauger had two goals, three ground balls, five draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Madi Van Zant had a goal and two ground balls while Mackenzi Nafziger had a goal of her own.
Van Zant put the Eagles on the board a little over five minutes into the game, and Stevens doubled the lead a minute later on a free position shot. McGlaughlin found Stevens for her second goal two minutes later. The Warriors got one back, but the Eagles continued to dominate as they scored three more to close the quarter up 6-1.
The Warriors scored the first three goals of the second quarter to get within two, but the Eagles dominated the final eight minutes of the half as they surged ahead 11-4. Lycoming scored in the dying seconds of the half as the Eagles led by six. Caoilinn Heatley made two saves in goal for the Eagles while Francesca Ditsky made four.
Juniata cruised through the second half, leading by eight at the end of the third, and totally dominated the fourth 7-0.
The Eagles return to action Saturday at home against Drew at 1:00.
